Brede - Winther Photography.

Brede is a neighbourhood in Lyngby, just north of Copenhagen. The settlement has been developed around the Mølleå River, where watermills were established as far back as the Middle Ages.

Due to the river’s water power in Brede, various manufacturing activities have existed in the area for a long time. From around 1628, gunpowder and copper were produced in Brede— and later textiles.

The buildings in Brede come from Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Sweden, and northern Germany.
